La Quinta, CA

PGA West & La Quinta

Pete Dye's desert playground — island greens, mountain backdrops and pool-home nights.

The place

The Coachella Valley is America's winter golf basin, and PGA West is its engine room. Pete Dye's Stadium Course — a longtime host of the PGA Tour's desert stop — brings moats, railroad ties and the island-green par-3 nicknamed Alcatraz; the Nicklaus Tournament and Greg Norman courses round out a 54-hole public rotation on one property. Ten minutes away, the historic La Quinta Resort adds Dye's Mountain and Dunes courses beneath the Santa Rosa foothills. Evenings run on patio dinners, Old Town La Quinta and a private pool that stays warm into November.
