Booking notes
Air New Zealand and US carriers fly nonstop to Auckland (AKL) from the West Coast — about 13 hours, losing a day to the date line outbound and reclaiming it on the way home. Self-driving is easy on empty left-side roads: Te Arai sits 90 minutes north of Auckland, Kauri Cliffs a few hours beyond, and Cape Kidnappers is a short domestic hop or a five-hour drive south. Book lodges and tee times as one itinerary — rooms gate the tee sheets in high season. Tara Iti is member-invitation only; the concierge can ask, never promise.
