Bolton Landing, NY

The Sagamore on Lake George

A grand island resort on Lake George with a Donald Ross classic in the hills above.

adirondack-viewsdonald-rossisland-resortlake-life

The place

The Sagamore has anchored its own island on Lake George since the Gilded Age, and its golf course — a 1928 Donald Ross design in the hills above Bolton Landing — is one of the Northeast's great resort classics, with Adirondack views crowding every tee shot. The trip splits perfectly: Ross golf in the morning, then the lake takes over — boat charters, swimming platforms, and cocktails on the veranda as the sun drops behind the mountains. Saratoga Springs, with its restaurants and summer track scene, sits about an hour south for a big night out.
