Dubai & the Emirates

Desert golf under the skyline — Tour venues by day, floodlit fairways by night, five-star everything.

The place

Dubai built a golf scene the way it builds everything — fast, glossy and to championship spec. The Majlis at Emirates Golf Club, the Middle East's first grass course, has hosted the Dubai Desert Classic for decades and frames the Marina skyline off nearly every tee; Greg Norman's Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates stages the DP World Tour's season finale. Dubai Creek adds old-Dubai charm beneath its dhow-sail clubhouse, the Faldo course runs fully floodlit for after-dark rounds, and Yas Links in Abu Dhabi makes a genuine-links away day. No ballots, no introductions — just book it.

Why it wins

Golf's most frictionless long haul: nonstop flights from a dozen-plus US cities, Tour-venue courses that book like resort golf, night rounds under floodlights when the sun quits, and a service culture that makes a buddies' trip feel like a Tour stop.

Booking notes

Emirates flies nonstop to Dubai (DXB) from more than a dozen US cities — 12 to 14 hours, typically landing in the evening — and no car is needed: drivers and ride-hailing are cheap and constant. Courses book online like resort golf, but winter mornings and Desert Classic week sell out weeks ahead. Play dawn or twilight windows October through April, and use the Faldo course's floodlights to turn 36-hole days into 45.
